Editing blog: Let's edit!
Hello there everybody, I am back again and with. new blog for today, to recap the last two blogs I talked about, I was talking about my dislikes and likes about filming, but in this blog, I am going to focus on what happens after filming which is editing. In my own opinion, I did mention before that filming was my favorite part of doing this project, editing, on the other hand, was not the thing I was so excited to participate in but it was bearable. When everybody was picking out their roles for the final task my role was to film but after filming there we a lot of clips put together so as a group decision, everybody took different parts of what to edit. There were a lot of obstacles that came my way I was in charge of adding in a dissolving scene which meant that the start of the clip the starting scene was going to be pixilated to the point you could not see the original scene and then the pixels will merge back together to show a different scene. I will say this was the biggest obstacle I encountered because I sincerely had no clue how to start editing that, I was very puzzled but then I remembered that I was using CapCut which is an editing application to help me complete my part of the clips and this application has pre-made edit filters and even some short tutorial videos that help beginner editors so I started scrolling through some of the videos and eventually found a short video that semi explaining what I was trying to edit and followed its direction, and after a while of following the instructions I was able to make the two clips dissolve, it was super irritating, to say the least of editing that scene with zero experience but at least things were solved in the end. One last obstacle I can remember dealing with was helping one of my teammates to input voiceovers into the film, she had all of the actor's voices in her files but didnt know how to layer them on top of the music so she asked me for help since I already had experience with adding voiceovers on my last project which was my commercial. When helping her with adding in the voices she mentioned she still wanted the music playing while the characters were talking, this actually stumped me for a bit since I never did that, I actually stopped the music so then the voices were the only thing people can see, but after some meddling around with the application's options I found out you can make the music and the voices as loud or quiet as you want and have the music and vices layer one on top of the other, after figuring this out it only took around ten minutes to finish the voiceovers and having that section of editing complete. Although my experience with editing was not the best some good things came out of it, but I will explain more about it in my next blog. That is it for today's blog, goodbye for now!
